Bridge 3 at a glance
Thu Thiem Bridge 3 has been part of Ho Chi Minh City\'s long-range cross-river transport plan since the early 2000s. The alignment crosses the Saigon River from the southern edge of Thu Thiem (in or adjacent to Functional Area 6) to a landing in District 4. Detailed design has progressed through the 2020s with multiple iterations on the alignment and contractor structure.
Current status (2026)
As of mid-2026, Bridge 3 is in advanced design. Construction start is targeted for the late 2020s with completion in the early 2030s. As with all major Vietnamese infrastructure projects, timeline slippage risk is material β the realistic expectation is that the bridge will open in the early-to-mid 2030s rather than being on the original optimistic timeline.
Impact on Thu Thiem real estate
Bridge 3 will be a meaningful catalyst for FA6 / FA7 / FA8 inventory. District 4 is one of the densest residential submarkets in Ho Chi Minh City β direct connection significantly expands the day-to-day reach of Thu Thiem residents and conversely opens up Thu Thiem as a destination for District 4 residents. Capital-value uplift will compound from construction-start through commissioning.
Thu Thiem Bridge 3 FAQs
What is Thu Thiem Bridge 3?
Thu Thiem Bridge 3 is a planned road bridge connecting the southern Thu Thiem peninsula (Functional Area 6) with District 4 across the Saigon River. The bridge has been part of the city's long-range transport plan for over a decade and is now in detailed design.
When will Thu Thiem Bridge 3 be built?
Detailed design is under way as of 2026. Construction is targeted to start in the late 2020s with completion in the early 2030s, subject to financing close and contractor procurement. Like other Thu Thiem infrastructure projects, the timeline has experienced multiple revisions.
Why is Bridge 3 important?
Bridge 3 closes a major gap in Ho Chi Minh City's cross-river network.
